DEUTSCHLAND

So I'm finally in Germany! It's been a long road to this trip but I finally made it! I arrived in Germany yesterday (June 27) at 13:10 local time (7:10 EST) after a looong flight. It's hard to know what to expect when you're coming into a country so far from your own, but I came with an open mind. So far, everything has been really good! Germany is soooo cool. I'm happy I will be spending my entire summer here. I have not really done much yet, besides for follow Manuela's regular routines. (Manuela is the girl I am staying with for those of you who do not know. I may also refer to her as Manu) Today we went to school and her school does not have air conditioning. It was also 27 degrees outside. It was sort of boring, and I'm pretty jet-lagged, so it was a long day! One of the things I'm going to have to get used to, which will be a challenge, is not understanding what anyone is talking about. I'm in an entirely different country where English is not a national language. On one hand it's difficult to cope with but on the other hand it's certainly more motivation for me to learn German myself. I will start learning German this week with her mom tutoring me. I am excited to learn it, but nervous to speak it. On that note, I give one thumb up to anyone who has taken the time to learn another language, it's really difficult no matter what the language. Anyway, I best be off as Manuela is really bored, and I'm not sure what else to tell you. I'll try posting some pictures of the houses and neighbourhoods and school sometime this week!

Ciao
